Honda has upgrade its lightweight, highly efficient, twin cylinder CBR250RR motorcycle. This new 2017 Honda CBR250RR Concept bike was unveiled earlier at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The production model also been unveiled in Indonesia on July 25. However its doubtful to be launched in India, but if launched it will surly give a very top competition to its rivals with its high performance figures, design and much more.
Design and Style
As the 2017 Honda 250RR comes from the CBR series, so undoubtedly it is going to have a head turning design. The new version comes with some of the sharpest curves. It has been designed with the key phrase “strong presence” which is very similar to next-generation super sport concept model. The low crouching position and a long nose which provides the rider a sense of speed. Its plane architecture shows its hardness and solidity and its sharp edges gives it an aggressive look. The body has matte-black-based low-contrast graphics which adds more to its remark ablility.
The new 2017 Honda CBR250RR is based on a freshly developed steel truss frame with aluminium gul type swingarm. The right-side swingarm has been shaped to decrease the exhaust pipe extrusion that makes the bike look even more slim while retaining the bank angle. The new 2017 CBR250RR comes with a quite similar front face as we have seen on the other CBR series motorcycles. To enhance the beauty, the bike has dual-LED headlights, sharp wedge-shape, long nose, acute tail, sharp body lines, sculpted fuel tank and chiselled tail section. It has an conventional single side exhaust muffler which is supposed to be a 2-1-2 system to compatible with the overall bike design.
The new 2017 Honda CBR250RR comes with a fully digital instrument console which consists of digital speedometer, trip meter, tachometer, odometer, clock, fuel gauge, ABS light, gear indicator, service reminder, low oil indicator, low battery indicator and rev limiter indicator.
Engine and Gearbox
The new 2017 Honda CBR250RR is one of its kind machine that boost the quarter litre bike segment by providing much more than the expected performance figures. The 2017 CBR250RR comes with a twin cylinder, 249.7 cc, 4-stroke, 8-valve, liquid cooled engine which provides a maximum power of 36.29 Bhp at 12,500 rpm and a peak torque of 22.5 Nm at 10,500 rpm. The power figures delivered by the bike are much more than as compared to the other quarter litre bike around the world.
The new 2017 Honda CBR250RR engine is mated to a six speed gearbox transmission with multiplate wet clutch and coil spring. The company claims that the engine is easy to handle for both urban riding and is also quite comfortable on the circuit providing a smooth power across the entire rev range. The Japanese company has also confirmed that the engine has Throttle-by-Wire (TbW) that makes it possible to use 3-way engine mode settings from where the rider can tap into the linear power output at his will.
Dimensions and Fuel capacity
The new 2017 Honda CBR250RR is an example that the company is ready to take big step towards design and styling. The dimensions measures of CBR250RR is 2060 mm in overall length, width is of 724 mm and height is of 1098 mm. The seat height is 790 mm, wheelbase is of 1389 mm and a ground clearance of 145 mm. The fuel tank capacity is 14.5 litres with 1.9 litres of oil tank capacity.
Top Speed and Mileage
The new 2017 Honda CBR250RR is expected to have a top speed of around 180 kmph. The mileage figures is yet to be officially revealed by the company. But we can expect the bike to provide a good powerful acceleration along with good mileage.
Brakes and Suspension
As showcased, the concept CBR250RR comes with a USD suspension setup at the front and a pro-link suspension with 5-step preload at the rear end. The braking duties are performed by 310 mm at the front and a 240 mm at rear. The bike has both dual-channel ABS option.
Shades and Tyres
The new 2017 Honda CBR250RR will be available in three shades: Red Racing, Matt Gun Powder Black and Anchor Grey Metallic. The bike comes with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. It has a 17 inch 110/70-17 54S of tyre at front and a 17 inch 140/70-17 66S tyre at the rear end.
Expected Price and Launch Date
The new 2017 Honda CBR250RR will be manufactured in Indonesia and the sales in the South East Asian country will likely to start by the end of 2016. Regarding the launch of new 2017 CBR250RR, Honda has not released any official statement. Some reports claim that there will be a 350cc version also coming, so it would be difficult to predict whether the bike will be launched in India or not.
If the bike launched, it is expected to be priced between Rs. 3,50,000-4,00,000 and will give a tough competitor for Yamaha R3 and Ninja 300. One thing is fully clearly that the bike is going to a tough competition for its rivals globally and it will surely make a big place in the hearts of the riders.
