Chinese smartphone and tablet manufacturer Xiaomi has recently launched the successor of its earlier smartphone named Redmi 1S in the Indian market. The new Xiaomi Redmi 2 features a 4.7 inch display screen and runs on the Android operating system. It comes with a price tag of Rs 6,999 in India and will be available exclusively on Indian e-commerce site Flipkart.com.
While the booking for the smartphone is open now but the deliveries will starts from March 24, 2015.
In addition, Xiaomi has also launched their first ever tablet called Mi Pad in the Indian market. This tablet comes with a price tag of Rs 12,999 and will also be available from March 24 on Flipkart.com. But unlike the Redmi 2, customers doesn’t need to do any pre-registrations to purchase the tablet. Mi Pad tablet was first revealed in May 2014.
Xiaomi is also planning to open around 100 ‘service and experience’ stores in India this year. The planned is to be set up over 500-1,000 square feet, the stores will allows the customers to experience the company’s devices. However, Xiaomi has also made it clear that they will not sell any devices from the stores. The stores will be opening soon in cities like Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad in the first week of April, said Manu Jain, the head of Xiaomi in India.

The brand new Redmi 2 smartphone comes with a 4.7 inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and a pixel density 312 ppi. It has Android operating system which has been optimized with MIUI 6. Powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor with Adreno 306 GPU and has 1 GB of RAM. The internal storage comes with 8 GB in which 5.75 GB is available to the user and which can be further expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD card.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes with an 8 megapixel of autofocus rear camera with LED Flash which can record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second and also has a 2 megapixel of front facing camera for video calling purpose which can also record HD videos (720p). In the connectivity section, Redmi 2 comes with an Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G LTE with a microSD card slot and a microUSB port.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes with a dimensions measures 134 mm x 67.2 mm x 9.4 mm along with a weight of 133 gm. It has a 2,200 mAh battery which also comes with dual-SIM capability, FM radio, GPS (with A-GPS support). The smartphone will be available in only white color.
Xiaomi is also planning to launch an limited edition of Redmi 2 smartphone which will come with an 16 GB of internal memory and a 2 GB of RAM.

Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet comes with an 7.9 inch of IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels and a pixel density of 326 ppi. It has an Android operating system which has been optimized with MIUI. The Mi Pad tablet is powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor and also has a 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage comes with an 16 GB which can be expandable up to 128 GB with a microSD card.
Mi Pad tablet features an 8 megapixel of rear camera with BSI sensor which can record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 fps and also has an 5 megapixel of front facing camera for video calling purpose. In the connectivity section, it has and Wi-Fi (with Wi-Fi Direct), a microSD card slot, bluetooth 4.0 and a microUSB port.
Mi Pad tablet dimensions measures 135.4 mm x 202.1 mm x 8.5 mm and it weight around 360 gm. It runs on a 6,700 mAh of battery which is said to offer up to 1,300 hours of standby time, 16 hours of HD video playback and 86 hours of music playback. It will be available in only white color.
